Islamabad: Leaders and political figures gathered in Islamabad to commemorate the death anniversary of Sardar Abdul Qayoom Khan, former Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, celebrating his contributions to the Kashmir freedom movement.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the Convener of All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Ghulam Muhammad Safi, praised Sardar Abdul Qayoom’s lifelong dedication to the cause of Kashmiri independence during a memorial event. He emphasized that Sardar Qayoom’s life and work serve as a guiding light for current and future political leaders in the region.
Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Azad Kashmir, Dr. Mushtaq, also honored Sardar Qayoom, highlighting his active participation in the struggle against Dogra rule and his significant role in the early phases of the Kashmiri freedom movement. Dr. Idris Abbasi, Secretary of Presidential Affairs, remarked that Sardar Qayoom’s efforts in the Kashmir freedom struggle would be remembered in history with high regard. The function also saw contributions from other notable speakers who discussed Sardar Qayoom’s impact on political and social spheres in Azad Kashmir.
