Lasbela Officials Conduct Pre-Monsoon Inspections to Prevent Flooding

Lasbela, In response to forecasts of heavy monsoon rains, senior officials from Lasbela district conducted a thorough inspection of the area’s drainage canals to prevent potential flooding. The proactive steps taken by the local government and district administration aim to safeguard residential and commercial areas from the expected seasonal challenges.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the survey was led by Additional Deputy Commissioner Lasbela Siraj Karim Baloch and SDO Irrigation Lasbela Malik Ashraf Baloch, alongside other local leaders including District Vice Chairman Ghulam Farooq Sheikh and Chairman Municipal Committee Uthal Syed Somar Shah Kazmi. The team visited critical areas like Linda Dora and Khanta river, where previous floods had severely impacted local communities, particularly flooding many houses in Othal Bazar.

During the inspection, Malik Ashraf Baloch briefed the officials on the current status of the water channels. In response, ADC Siraj Karim Baloch ordered immediate measures to enhance the drainage system. He emphasized the urgency of clearing the drains to ensure smooth water flow into the rivers, preventing the overflow that typically leads to flooding of nearby neighborhoods and markets.

The ADC also highlighted the cooperation needed from the public, urging residents to stay clear of rivers and drains during rains and to take necessary precautions to minimize damage. He reassured the community of the administration’s commitment to using all available resources to address these environmental challenges effectively.

The visit underscored the administration’s dedication to protecting the citizens and their properties from natural disasters through improved infrastructure and community engagement. Local councilor Salim Mujahid and other officials were also present, demonstrating a unified approach to tackling the monsoon season’s threats.
