Landslides and Shooting Stones Close Srinagar-Jammu Highway

Srinagar, Officials announced the closure of the Srinagar-Jammu highway due to adverse weather conditions, including heavy downpours in the Kashmir plains and snowfall in the higher regions. The extreme weather has resulted in mudslides, landslides, and shooting stones, particularly in the Ramban district of occupied Jammu and Kashmir, leading to significant disruptions along this vital transportation route.

According to Kashmir Media Service, traffic authorities have reported that the highway, a crucial link between Srinagar and Jammu, has been blocked at several locations within the Ramban district due to the natural calamities triggered by the weather. In light of the current conditions, the traffic department has issued an advisory urging the public to postpone any planned journeys on the highway until the weather conditions ameliorate and the road is deemed safe for travel.

This closure underscores the challenges posed by the region’s weather and the impact it has on infrastructure and mobility, affecting both local residents and broader logistical operations.
