PATNA, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav voiced his criticisms against the Narendra Modi administration for its position at the United Nations Organization (UNO) concerning a proposed ceasefire in Gaza.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Yadav expressed concerns over the Modi government’s handling of the country’s foreign policy. He shared on social media, “This marks an unprecedented moment when India, traditionally a vanguard for humanity and global peace, displayed ambivalence. The central government must refrain from jeopardizing our foreign policy. Prioritizing human rights sensitivities ought to be a cornerstone of our foreign policy approach.”
Earlier, the United Nations proposed a ceasefire in its General Assembly, 20 days into the conflict between Israel and Hamas. While a significant majority, comprising 120 nations, supported the ceasefire, 14 opposed it. Notably, 45 nations, including India, Great Britain, Canada, and Germany, abstained from the vote.
This stance from the Indian government elicited objections from opposition leaders, particularly given the burgeoning humanitarian crisis in Gaza due to Israeli airstrikes.
