Lahore Water Filtration Plants to be Managed by Single Authority, Chief Minister Orders Repairs and New Installations

Lahore, In a decisive move to address the inefficiencies in water filtration across Punjab, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has mandated the immediate repair of inactive and damaged water filtration plants and the installation of new units in areas with salt water. The decision came during a special meeting focused on the state of the province’s water infrastructure.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the meeting presided over by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif reviewed a report detailing the status of 5027 water filtration plants. The Chief Minister directed that these efforts be centralized under the management of a single authority to streamline operations and enhance service delivery. The assembly included Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, Provincial Minister Local Government Zeeshan Rafique, and other high-level officials.

The decision aims to ensure that every resident of Punjab has access to clean and safe drinking water, a critical step towards improving public health standards in the region. The new installations will prioritize areas afflicted by saline water to mitigate the health impacts associated with water salinity.
