Lahore to Gain Two New Amusement Parks in Major Urban Development Effort

Lahore: In a significant urban development move, the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) has announced plans to construct two state-of-the-art amusement parks in the city, one at Greater Iqbal Park and another at Racecourse Park, aimed at providing extensive entertainment options for both children and families.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, PHA Director General Muhammad Tahir Wattoo outlined that these facilities, developed in collaboration with the private sector, will feature a variety of rides, shows, and themed areas designed to attract millions of visitors each year. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance the recreational infrastructure of Lahore and boost local tourism and revenue for the PHA. “It will be the first project of its kind to provide comprehensive entertainment in one place for the residents of Lahore,” Wattoo said.

The announcement also included details of other PHA projects, such as the development of a new botanical garden spanning 10 acres in the scenic hill station of Murree, with construction expected to start later this year. Additionally, Lahore resident Muhammad Shoaib commended the PHA’s efforts, noting the city’s need for quality recreational spaces to engage the community, particularly the youth.

In related updates, the PHA is progressing with initiatives to digitize its revenue operations, particularly within its marketing and coordination wings, which oversee outdoor advertising and the management of food courts and amusement facilities. The organization also celebrated the blooming of new seasonal flowers like Zinnias and Cosmos, which have beautified Lahore’s roads.
