Lahore, Additional IG Investigation Punjab, Muhammad Idrees Ahmad, recently chaired a comprehensive video link meeting at the Central Police Office to scrutinize investigation matters across the province. The meeting saw the participation of senior police officials, including all SSPs and SP Investigation officers, aiming to assess the progress and efficiency in handling cases and challans over the last decade.
According to Punjab Police, the focus of the discussion was on evaluating the performance of various districts in terms of the rate of pending challans and cases still under investigation. The meeting applauded the efforts of Lahore, Sheikhupura, Gujrat, Attock, and Wazirabad districts for their exemplary performance in the timely completion of challans, setting a benchmark for others.
Additional IG Investigation Punjab emphasized the importance of enhancing performance across other districts, urging for the swift completion and submission of Interim Challans in coordination with prosecutors. The meeting also highlighted the need for expedited action on pending work as part of the memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Prosecution Department.
Muhammad Idrees Ahmad mandated the completion of challans for electricity theft cases in Punjab in collaboration with prosecutors for submission to the courts. He also stressed the need for improving the rate of challan submissions by accelerating the investigation process for murder, rape, and other serious crimes, calling for unity and effective management among officers to eradicate the backlog.
The gathering underscored the police’s commitment to enhancing the investigative process and judicial proceedings in Punjab, aiming to ensure swift justice and reduce pending caseloads through better coordination and performance management.
