Lahore Police Intensify Crackdown on Illegal Profiteers During Ramadan


Lahore, Following directives from the Chief Minister of Punjab, Lahore Police has ramped up efforts to curtail illegal profiteering activities across the city during the holy month of Ramadan. The campaign has resulted in the registration of 266 cases against individuals engaging in such practices, leading to the arrest of 702 accused throughout the month.



According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the police crackdown has been widespread, with arrests made across various divisions of Lahore including City, Cantt, Civil Lines, Sadar, Iqbal Town, and Model Town. The operation aims to ensure the availability of affordable and quality food items to the citizens, with the Capital City Police Officer Bilal Siddique Kamiana emphasizing the indiscriminate nature of the police action against those exploiting consumers during this period.



The initiative underscores the government’s commitment to safeguarding consumer rights and maintaining market order, particularly during Ramadan, a time when demand for food and essential items peaks. The police’s concerted efforts to address illegal profiteering activities reflect a broader strategy to enhance civic well-being and market fairness in the province.
