Lahore PHA Combats Dengue Through Awareness and Larvae Control

Lahore, August 22, 2023 (PPI-OT): To combat the spread of dengue, the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) in Lahore has launched an extensive awareness campaign aimed at educating residents of the provincial metropolis. Concurrently, under the guidance of Director General Muhammad Tahir Watto, comprehensive dengue spraying operations are also in progress at various PHA facilities. These encompass offices, workshops, washrooms, nurseries, and fountains.

Furthermore, a concerted effort is underway to mitigate the presence of dengue larvae in trees within gardens and green belts, involving the cleaning of tree cavities. Simultaneously, as part of the overall initiative to maintain lakes and fountains, agents with anti-dengue properties are being introduced to eliminate larvae.

In this regard, Coordination Director Zofishan Javed reported that a dedicated team of 105 employees was deployed across all zones of the provincial capital. Their objective is to thwart the proliferation of dengue larvae and to ensure the methodical implementation of spraying procedures and other preventive measures within PHA offices.

In an endeavor to safeguard public health, the PHA’s comprehensive approach includes community engagement, targeted treatments, and meticulous oversight, all of which collectively aim to minimize the threat of dengue transmission.
