Lahore Health Minister Touts Progress in Disease Control, Criticizes Predecessors

Lahore, During a session at the Institute of Public Health, Provincial Minister for Primary and Secondary Health Care Khawaja Imran Nazir critiqued previous administrations for their inefficacy and boasted of the current administration’s accomplishments in enhancing the health sector. The minister spoke at the second session of district entomologists trained as master trainers, focusing on advancements in disease surveillance and management.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, Minister Nazir outlined significant changes in the health card system intended to activate the health system further. He stressed the importance of keeping abreast with new research, technology, and studies to tackle health challenges effectively. The session also highlighted the successful reduction in dengue-related fatalities in Punjab, noting a decline from ten deaths in 2023 to none reported this year due to improved vector surveillance and monitoring.

At the conclusion of the session, certificates were distributed to the master trainers by Minister Nazir, emphasizing the role of educated and trained entomologists in managing public health. The event was also attended by prominent health officials, including IPH Dean Dr. Zarfashan Tahir and Director of the Communicable Disease Control Program Dr. Yadullah, underscoring the collaborative effort in public health management.
