Lahore Convenes Health Sector Meeting to Enhance Public Services

Lahore, Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafiq led a comprehensive meeting at the Department of Specialized Health Care and Medical Education in Lahore to address several critical health issues, including measles prevention, heat wave preparation, and universal health insurance. This assembly, involving high-level health officials like Secretary Health Punjab Ali Jan Khan and vice chancellors of major medical universities, underscores a major push to revamp the health services across Punjab.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the meeting included a detailed review of current health initiatives and the performance of government hospitals throughout the province. The discussions emphasized the urgent need for stringent measures against corruption within the health sector and the implementation of universal health insurance to ensure the provision of quality medical services to all citizens.

Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafiq announced plans for a clinical audit of government hospitals to enhance service delivery and patient care. “The government is committed to supporting health professionals and improving conditions for patients in government hospitals. Those obstructing hospital operations will face strict actions,” stated Rafiq. He also highlighted that the leadership under Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif is actively solving hospital issues to expedite the revamping projects in government hospitals.

Health Secretary Ali Jan Khan shared updates on preventative measures against outbreaks of measles and strategies to combat potential Congo virus and heat wave impacts in the coming months. Khan emphasized the province’s readiness to handle these challenges, including ensuring the availability of essential medications and strict sanitation protocols in hospitals.

The meeting concluded with a call for unity and heightened responsibility among the health sector officials to ensure that healthcare facilities across Punjab operate efficiently and are free from corruption. The provincial leaders expressed a strong resolve to continue enhancing the healthcare infrastructure, driven by a robust policy framework and the support of the Punjab government.
