Lahore Approves Six New Development Schemes Totaling Rs 8732.38 Million


Lahore, In a significant step towards infrastructural and institutional enhancement, the Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) of Lahore has green-lighted six development projects across various sectors, amounting to a total estimated cost of Rs 8732.38 million. The 49th meeting of the PDWP for the current fiscal year, led by Chairman of the Planning and Development Board Barrister Nabeel Ahmad Awan, focused on improving road infrastructure and strengthening institutional capacities within the province.



According to Planning and Development Board – Punjab, the meeting saw the approval of projects including the widening and improvement of the Shahpur Bhera-Malikwal Road in District Sargodha and the rehabilitation of the old G.T. Road in Okara City. Other notable schemes include the rehabilitation and widening of additional sections of the Shahpur Bhera Malikwal Road, improvement of the Depalpur Haveli Lakha Road via Bhuman Shah and Wasawala, and the rehabilitation of the Depalpur-Basirpur Road. Additionally, a substantial investment has been allocated for the institutional strengthening of the P and DB and capacity building of public sector employees through the PRMPU component.



The meeting was attended by Secretary of the P and D Board Dr. Asif Tufail, Chief Economist Mr. Nasir Iqbal Malik, members of the P and D Board, heads of relevant departments, and other senior representatives from various provincial departments. These projects aim to not only improve the physical infrastructure of the region but also enhance the administrative and operational capabilities of the Punjab government’s development machinery.



This initiative marks a crucial step in the province’s ongoing efforts to develop and modernize its infrastructure and governance systems, ensuring improved service delivery and a higher quality of life for its residents.
