Lahore Advances Wastewater Management Project

LAHORE: Member LG/UD, Mr. Khawar Kamal, led a meeting to assess the progress of the Lahore Wastewater and Drainage Management Project. The meeting underscored the importance of adhering to guidelines set by the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and the timely completion of the project, citing its significant public importance.

The gathering was attended virtually by Mr. Edzwan Redza Anwar, Project Team Leader from AIIB. Discussions focused on two main components of the project: the construction of a Surface Water Treatment Plant at the BRBD Canal near Ravi Syphon, and the implementation of a sewerage system from Larech Colony to Gulshan-e-Ravi using trenchless technology.

Mr. Kamal emphasized the necessity of meeting AIIB guidelines throughout the project’s implementation stages. He reiterated the importance of timely execution due to the project’s critical role in improving public health and infrastructure in the region. The project aims to enhance wastewater management and drainage systems in Lahore, contributing to urban sustainability and environmental conservation.

The meeting concluded with a commitment to maintain momentum and address any challenges promptly to ensure the project’s successful completion.
