Srinagar, December 14, 2021 (PPI-OT): Leh Apex Body leader Chering Dorjay has said that the shutdown observed across Ladakh on Monday sent a reminder to the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs which didn’t invite the two prominent bodies of Leh and Kargil [Leh Apex Body and Kargil Democratic Alliance] for talks on their demands.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Chering Dorjay without naming BJP and its wings in Ladakh, told media persons in Leh it was a slap on the face of those who conspired to flop the strike by circulating fake letters that it has been called off, adding they will file written complaint to police and seek investigations into circulation of fake letter.
Separately, KDA co-chairman Asgar Ali Karbalai, addressing a press conference in Kargil, announced that the two bodies will shortly meet and the agitation will be taken to village, block, tehsil and district levels. He maintained, there will be mass mobilization of the people in support of the demands. He added a message has gone to the political establishment in New Delhi that Ladakhis are serious and concerned about their demands. He said even now if there is no response from the Indian govt, the people will hit roads and will be ready for any sacrifice.
Monday’s shutdown was the second such strike in Ladakh in last three and half months, the first being on Aug 29, which was also called jointly by Leh and Kargil bodies after visiting Indian Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai didn’t invite them for talks but called other bodies. Demands for which the LAB and KDA had given the latest shutdown call include statehood for Ladakh.
