Labour’s Commitment to Kashmir Policy Key to Retaining Voter Base, Says Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK Leader

Birmingham: In the aftermath of the recent UK general elections, Fahim Kayani, leader of Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK, described the next five years as a crucial test for the newly elected Labour government. He emphasized the importance of a staunch pro-Kashmir policy to retain the support of the Kashmiri and Pakistani voter base.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Fahim Kayani expressed concerns at a Birmingham news conference that any deviation from the Labour Party’s campaign promises related to Kashmir could jeopardize their future electoral prospects. He credited the Labour Party’s landslide victory partially to the support from British Kashmiri and Pakistani communities.

Kayani recalled historical support for the Labour Party from these communities, noting past contributions such as the establishment of an All Party Parliamentary Group for Kashmir by Roger Godsiff, a Labour MP. He stressed that the current government must adhere to commitments based on UN resolutions and the right to self-determination for Kashmir.
