Lahore: In a recent visit to the Punjab Social Security Head Office, Minister for Labour and Human Resources Faisal Ayub Khokhar assessed various operational aspects and initiatives of the Labour department.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, Minister Khokhar received detailed briefings from the top officials of the Labour and Human Resource, Labour Welfare, Punjab Social Security, and Workers Welfare Funds departments. This meeting saw the participation of several key figures including Secretary Labour Naeem Ghaus, Commissioner Punjab Social Security Nadia Saqib, DG Labour Khalsum Hai, and Executive Officer Workers Welfare Board Tauqeer Elyas Cheema.
During his visit, Minister Khokhar issued directives for the establishment of daycare centers within factories specifically for the children of female workers, and underscored the need for constructing Labour colonies to improve living conditions for workers. He ordered the departments concerned to develop comprehensive plans within two days to ensure the installation of biometric machines at offices to verify staff attendance and to take decisive action against ghost employees.
Further emphasizing the importance of human resources development, Minister Khokhar reiterated his commitment to enhance the registration and welfare of workers. He also affirmed plans to amend laws if necessary, aligning with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision to ensure the well-being and prosperity of labourers. He concluded by affirming that workers’ contributions would be strictly utilized for their intended welfare and stressed the inviolability of labour dignity.
