Kupwara Village Struggles with Neglect from Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar: The residents of Gujarnar village in the Qaziabad area of Kupwara district are facing severe hardships due to ongoing neglect by the authorities in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Critical issues such as dilapidated roads, lack of potable water, inadequate mobile network coverage, and unsafe electrical infrastructure continue to plague the community.

According to Kashmir Media Service, villagers have repeatedly voiced their concerns to local officials, but their pleas for essential services and infrastructure improvements have largely been ignored. Salam Din Seer, a local resident, specifically highlighted the perilous condition of the road from Rengpath to Gujarnar, which is riddled with potholes and has been in dire need of macadamization for years. The deplorable road conditions severely hinder daily commuting, particularly impacting those who require regular access to neighboring towns and services.

The situation is compounded by a severe shortage of drinking water, despite promises by the water department to ensure accessible potable water for every household in the region. Additionally, the lack of cellular network coverage forces residents to travel significant distances just to catch a signal strong enough to make phone calls or access the internet. This lack of connectivity is especially challenging for students in the village, who struggle to access educational resources online.

Safety concerns due to old and dangling electricity wires, along with decaying poles, pose a constant threat to the villagers, with authorities showing no urgency in addressing these life-threatening issues.

The residents of Gujarnar are urgently calling for immediate action from higher authorities to alleviate their suffering and provide the basic amenities needed to improve their quality of life.
