Karachi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Minister of Industry and Trade, Technical Education and Amalgamated Affairs, Dr. Amir Abdullah, met with Shaheen Khan, representative of Shaheen Arms Engineering, to discuss the advancement and support of the local hunting arms manufacturing industry.
According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the meeting, which also included Javed Iqbal Khattak, CEO of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development and Management Company, focused on the development of the arms industry in the region. Shaheen Arms Engineering, based in Kohat Road, Peshawar, is notable for producing hunting guns and related equipment, with a market extending to Tanzania, Nigeria, Canada, the Philippines, and Kuwait.
During the meeting, Shaheen Khan emphasized the international recognition of their products, attributing this success to quality and modernization. However, he pointed out the need for government support, particularly from the Ministry of Commerce, to facilitate the company’s participation in international arms exhibitions and promote domestic exports. Khan also suggested that the government provide tax exemptions for importing modern machinery and support the import of raw materials and related parts. This support, he argued, would enhance the production of international-level hunting arms locally and potentially increase foreign exchange earnings.
The caretaker minister, acknowledging the efforts of Shaheen Arms Engineering in manufacturing advanced, technology-dependent hunting weapons, expressed his willingness to provide support to the industry’s association. He praised the company’s performance in diversifying and advancing the technology in the field of supporting hunting weapons.
