KP Chief Minister Expands Solarization Project to Include Religious Schools


Peshawar, Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, has taken a significant step by extending the province’s solarization project to encompass religious madrasas, in addition to mosques and other places of worship. This initiative aims to facilitate the solarization of 1000 to 1500 religious madrasas across various districts, ensuring that registered schools benefit from renewable energy sources. This move is expected to accommodate the thousands of students studying in these institutions by providing a more stable and sustainable energy solution.



According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, during a meeting with the Department of Energy and Electronics, Chief Minister Gandapur emphasized the importance of timely and efficient solarization of these religious schools. He insisted on the inclusion of madrasas from all districts in this green initiative, highlighting the necessity of solar energy for the convenience and betterment of the students’ accommodation facilities. The meeting, which also involved discussions on the administrative and financial aspects of various energy projects, saw the attendance of key officials, including the Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary Amjad Ali Khan and Energy and Electronics Secretary Nisar Ahmed.



Furthermore, the Chief Minister directed the swift appointment of the Chief Executive Officer and members of the Executive Committee of the Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization. He stressed the critical nature of completing ongoing hydropower development projects within their scheduled timelines, indicating that delays and inefficiency would not be tolerated, with possible fines for contractors who fail to meet deadlines.



In a related development, during a meeting of the Local Government Department, Chief Minister Gandapur approved the release of special funds totaling one and a half billion rupees to address the salary and pension payments of employees from financially challenged Tehsil Municipal Administrations (TMAs). This decision aims to alleviate the financial hardships faced by these employees during the Ramadan and Eid seasons.



These measures reflect the Chief Minister’s dedication to improving energy sustainability and financial stability within the province, setting a precedent for responsible governance and care for both the environment and the welfare of government employees.
