KP Advisor Criticizes Plans for PIA Privatization by Federal Government

Peshawar, Barrister Dr. Saif, Adviser to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Information and Public Relations, has expressed strong disapproval of the federal government’s alleged plans to privatize Pakistan International Airlines (PIA). He claims that the current administration is set to divest national assets hastily, continuing a trend attributed to the political practices of the Muslim League-N.

According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Dr. Saif in a recent statement, contended that the government, referred to as the “fake Form 47 government,” is eager to relinquish control over PIA, mirroring past actions where national entities were put up for privatization. He warned that without intervention to remove the current administration, there could be a wholesale sell-off of the nation’s assets, with officials potentially fleeing abroad.

Dr. Saif criticized the economic policies of the Muslim League-N, accusing them of historically resorting to privatization due to corruption and governance failures. This stance sheds light on the ongoing political discourse in Pakistan regarding the management and privatization of state-owned enterprises.
