Kolkata: Authorities at a hospital in Kolkata have announced that they will not treat patients from Bangladesh.
According to Kashmir Media Service, J N Ray Hospital, located in north Kolkata’s Manicktala area, has decided to stop admitting Bangladeshi patients in response to protests over the reported mistreatment of minority Hindus in Bangladesh.
“We have issued a notification that from today till an indefinite time we will not admit any Bangladeshi patient for treatment. This is primarily because of the insults they have shown towards India,” stated Subhranshu Bhakt, an official at the hospital.
Bhakt urged other hospitals in the city to adopt similar measures against Bangladeshi citizens, citing India’s role in Bangladesh’s independence and rising anti-India sentiments as motivating factors for the hospital’s decision.
