Lahore, November 17, 2021 (PPI-OT):A delegation of Kisan Ittehad led by Khalid Khokhar met with Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar at his office on Monday to discuss farmers’ welfare. Adviser Hanif Pitafi, secretaries of agriculture, food, industries, irrigation departments, BoR’s member (colonies), cane commissioner and others were also present.
At the outset, the CM directed to early finalise comprehensive recommendations to resolve farmers’ problems and pointed out that the minimum sugarcane price was fixed at Rs225 per maund as the crushing season has started in Punjab.
The sugarcane farmers will be given a full reward for their hard work as millers have been bound to issue authenticated receipts to sugarcane farmers, he said. Action will be initiated in case of water theft in Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalnagar and other areas while the Punjab government was giving Rs11 billion subsidy on DAP; he maintained and assured to timely arrange fertilisers to the farmers.
A policy would be devised and presented before the cabinet about the use of land for fish farming in Muzaffargarh, added Usman Buzdar. Similarly, reservation of the farmers will be duly addressed, he repeated. Bumper crops have been produced due to farmers’ hard work and the full reward was given to them by the government.
The government will continue to protect farmers’ rights and more facilities will be provided to increase crops’ productivity by the farmers, he added. Khalid Khokhar appreciated the policies adding that investment would lead to a green revolution in Punjab. The farmers have been given the full reward for their hard work in the tenure of the PTI government, he added.
