Khydeeja Alam Appointed Executive Director of California APIA Commission


Washington D.C., Pakistani-American Khydeeja Alam has been appointed as the Executive Director of The California Commission on Asian and Pacific Islander American Affairs (CAPIAA), marking a significant milestone for the community.



According to Press Information Department, Ambassador Masood Khan congratulated Ms. Alam on her appointment during a virtual meeting. Ms. Alam, the first Pakistani American to hold this important position, will represent over 6 million Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in California. She expressed her dedication to giving back to her community and addressing issues like anti-Asian hate, cultural language sensitivity, Islamophobia, and antisemitism. Prior to this role, she served in various leadership positions, including at Catalyst California and California Volunteers, Office of the Governor.



Ambassador Khan recognized the achievements of the Pakistani-American diaspora as a source of pride and honor for Pakistan. He invited Ms. Alam to visit Pakistan with entrepreneurs and investors from her constituency, highlighting investment opportunities in IT, agriculture, energy, and tourism. The Ambassador also noted the significant investments in Pakistan by Silicon Valley companies and the potential for further IT cooperation between Pakistan and the United States.
