Islamabad, The Director of Khyber Teaching Hospital, Dr. Mohammad Zafar Afridi, met with the Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan, Anwarul Haq Kakar, at the Prime Minister House yesterday. The meeting’s agenda included discussions on the progress and challenges faced by Khyber Teaching Hospital, as well as broader healthcare issues in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
According to Directorate General Information & PRs, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Dr. Afridi presented a three-year performance report of Khyber Teaching Hospital to the Prime Minister and gifted a model of the Khyber Pass as a souvenir. The Prime Minister expressed appreciation for the hospital’s administration and acknowledged its status as a model institution in the province. Key achievements like the construction of a new emergency building and the acquisition of Pakistan’s first helium-free MRI machine were highlighted. Dr. Afridi also brought up the need for additional budget to complete ongoing development works, to which the Prime Minister promised to discuss the matter with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government. Furthermore, an invitation was extended to the Prime Minister to inaugurate the hospital’s newly constructed ICU complex, cath lab, and MRI machine. The Prime Minister showed interest in visiting the hospital and emphasized the government’s commitment to enhancing medical facilities for the public.
