Peshawar, In a significant meeting held at the Chief Minister’s House in Peshawar, the Caretaker Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Justice Retired Syed Arshad Hussain Shah, and a delegation from the World Bank led by Country Director Najee Bin Hasan discussed ongoing development projects in the province. The focus was on the timely completion of these projects and ensuring their benefits reach the local populace effectively.
According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the meeting was attended by key supervisory cabinet members including Barrister Feroz Jamal Shah Kakakhel, Syed Masood Shah, Engineer Ahmed Jan, Engineer Aamir Nadeem Durrani, Dr. Najibullah, Dr. Syed Sarfaraz Ali Shah, Chief Minister’s Spokesperson Brigadier (Rtd) Syed Mujtaba Tirmizi, and Additional Chief Secretary for Planning and Development Syed Imtiaz Hussain Shah. The discussion centered on the ongoing development projects in the province, particularly in the merged districts, and explored possibilities for future cooperation with the World Bank.
The Chief Minister emphasized the challenges faced by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, especially the merged districts, in the wake of terrorism. He highlighted the province’s frontline role in the war against terrorism and the subsequent impact on various aspects of life, including the economy and law and order. The rapid development of these annexed districts was acknowledged as a top priority for the provincial government. Despite the difficulties, the government is actively seeking cooperation from international donor agencies and development institutions to foster economic development and prosperity as a means to combat militancy.
In his speech, the Chief Minister also outlined the provincial government’s Human Resource Export Strategy aimed at providing employment opportunities for the youth. This initiative includes offering crash courses tailored to the modern market’s demands, thereby enhancing the employability of young individuals. The Chief Minister stressed the need for the cooperation of donor agencies in this endeavor and recognized the immense potential of the province’s youth, which needs to be harnessed through appropriate training aligned with market needs.
