Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Host Inter-Regional Under-23 Games Starting May 28

Peshawar, The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is set to host the Inter-Regional Under-23 Games starting May 28, offering a platform for 1,848 young athletes from across the province to compete in various sports. The events, encompassing both men’s and women’s categories, will take place at multiple venues in Peshawar and other locations within the region.

According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the games are organized under the directives of Matiullah Khan and will be led by Additional DG Sports Rashida Ghaznavi. Athletes will participate in sports such as badminton, squash, table tennis, volleyball, cricket, judo, athletics, hockey, and taekwondo, among others. The events are scheduled to be held at the Hayatabad Sports Complex, Peshawar Sports Complex, Kohat Severt Complex, Tahamas Khan Football Stadium, University of Peshawar Grounds, Abdul Wali Khan Sports Complex, Charsadda, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University Peshawar, and the Peshawar Education Board Grounds.

The male and female athletes, totaling 1,078 and 770 respectively, will compete in teams ranging from six to eighteen players. Key competitions for men will include badminton, squash, and cricket at the Hayatabad Sports Complex, while women will compete in badminton, table tennis, and volleyball at the Abdul Wali Khan Sports Complex, among other locations.

This significant sporting event is part of the region’s efforts to foster youth sports and provide competitive opportunities for young athletes under the age of 23. It is expected to draw significant attention and participation, highlighting the region’s commitment to sports development and athletic excellence.
