Peshawar, The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister of Agriculture, Major (Retd.) Sajjad Barkwal, has announced plans to construct a shrine on the tomb of renowned Pashto poet Faizullah Faiz. This announcement was made during the “Jishan Faiz” mushaira ceremony in Jatan Banda area of Jahangiri Village Council, District Kirk.
According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Barkwal emphasized the government’s commitment to promoting the Pashto language and literature. He detailed several initiatives aimed at cultural preservation, including the activation of libraries across the city headquarters, establishment of Bab Luogar in Spina, and the introduction of a Pashto department at Khushal Khan Khattak University.
The event, which saw participation from poets and writers from across the provinces, also featured the presentation of a prose collection on Kalyat Faiz to Minister Barkwal, underscoring the literary significance of Faiz’s work and the region’s rich cultural heritage.
