Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Steering Committee Advances Development Plans in Merged Districts

Peshawar, In a significant move to enhance development in the merged districts, a special steering committee meeting was held on Monday in the Cabinet Room, Civil Secretariat, Peshawar. Chaired by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Amalgamation, Industries, Crafts, and Technical Education Dr. Amir Abdullah, the meeting focused on reviewing progress and considering proposals across various sectors.

According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the meeting was attended by prominent officials including Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development Syed Imtiaz Hussain Shah, Secretary Health Mahmood Aslam Wazir, and other key department heads. The committee assessed the implementation of goals and decisions made in previous steering committee meetings and directives from the provincial task force led by the Chief Minister.

Key highlights from the meeting included updates on police force promotions in the merged districts. The forum was informed about the promotion of 19 DSPs and 85 inspectors, as well as the advancement of 1571 youths through ETA. The committee also noted the termination of 513 ghost employees from the police force in these districts. Construction sites for police in some districts were identified, with instructions to commence work promptly.

The meeting also directed the acceleration of establishing judicial offices in North Waziristan, South Waziristan, and Orakzai. The finance department was instructed to resolve financial matters within two days. Furthermore, the education department was asked to present effective suggestions for the management and quality improvement of governor model schools in the merged districts at the next task force meeting. The department was also encouraged to propose models of private sector partnerships in other provinces.
