Peshawar, In an effort to address the financial discrepancies between the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Finance Adviser Muzamil Aslam initiated a telephonic conversation with the Chairman of the FBR. The discussion focused on the arrears owed to the provincial authority, marking a step towards resolving the outstanding financial matters.
According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the telephonic dialogue was part of a broader engagement aimed at understanding the intricacies of cross input tax adjustment. This conversation precedes a scheduled delegation meeting with FBR officials to further deliberate on the issue. Finance Adviser Muzamil Aslam revealed that of the total Rs 9.4 billion pending for reconciliation, a substantial amount of Rs 4.1 billion was received in February 2024, leaving an outstanding balance of Rs 5.3 billion.
The upcoming discussions between FBR officials and representatives from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority (CAPRA) are expected to pave the way for the resolution of the remaining Rs 5.3 billion. These meetings, anticipated to occur next week, are seen as crucial steps towards achieving financial clarity and settlement between the two entities.
This engagement underscores the commitment of both the provincial and federal bodies to work collaboratively towards settling financial disputes, thereby enhancing the fiscal management and governance within the region.
