Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has successfully secured a significant development grant of 70 billion rupees for its adjoining districts, following approvals at the National Economic Council meeting attended by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and Finance Advisor Muzamil Aslam. This funding is expected to drive substantial economic and infrastructure development in the region.
According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Finance Advisor Muzamil Aslam highlighted the council’s agreement to also consider the province’s request for additional funding for a transmission line to support cheap electricity distribution. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa plans to produce 180 megawatts of electricity this year at a cost-effective rate of 7 rupees per unit, aiming to supply it to the Rishkai and Daraban Economic Zones. Aslam also advocated for provincial inclusion in IMF negotiations, a motion that received unanimous consent from the council, reinforcing the provincial government’s commitment to transparent and inclusive financial governance.
