Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Launch New Apps for Enhanced Policing and Election Security

Peshawar, The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, in a significant technological advancement, have launched two new mobile applications, the e-Police Post App and the Safe Election App (SEA), developed in collaboration with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board (KPITB). These apps are designed to modernize policing efforts and secure election processes in the province.

According to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, Deputy Inspector General of Police Information Technology Police Department, Irfan Tariq, emphasized the importance of modern technology in policing. He shared these insights during the inauguration ceremony at the Central Police Office in Peshawar. The e-Police Post App aims to alleviate public inconvenience at police checkpoints, allowing for quick checking of stolen vehicles and criminal records on the spot. This is expected to reduce the time passengers and vehicle owners spend stranded during checks.

The Safe Election App, on the other hand, is focused on ensuring the security and effectiveness of election arrangements. Its primary function is to facilitate the timely deployment of security staff at polling stations and address any challenges they might face in performing their duties.

DIGIT Irfan Tariq highlighted that the development of these police apps is in line with the public’s satisfaction needs in a democratic society, aiming to provide better police services in a user-friendly environment. He further stated that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police are committed to adopting technology-based policing methods while promoting public-friendly and service-oriented policing approaches.

The e-Police Post app will enable immediate identification of criminals and stolen vehicles, enhancing the efficiency of police checks. Additionally, the app’s system has been integrated with police networks across the country, facilitating inter-provincial information exchange and transmission.

These new applications are viewed as milestones in narrowing the gap between the police and the public, leading to more effective policing. They are also seen as crucial tools in combating crime and securing elections, thus ensuring a safer environment for the citizens of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
