Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Official Vows Crackdown on Illegal Sale of Government Medicines and Contraceptives

Peshawar, In response to increasing concerns about the illegal market sales of government-supplied medicines and contraceptives, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Population Welfare, Malik Liaquat Ali Khan, has announced a strict crackdown.

According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Malik Liaquat Ali Khan, during a surprise visit to Peepal Mandi and other markets in Peshawar, discovered government contraceptives being sold unlawfully. The visit aimed to address public complaints regarding the distribution of these items outside authorized channels.

During his inspections, which also covered several cosmetics shops, Khan found and seized free contraceptives that were meant for public health initiatives. He expressed strong disapproval of the practice and directed local authorities to take severe measures against the vendors involved. The directive includes seizing all illicit drugs and materials and placing them under official custody.

Khan emphasized that the sale of government drugs and materials in open markets violates regulations, and offenders will face severe legal consequences. Subsequently, the contraceptives recovered during the operation were secured by the authorities, and shopkeepers found complicit were handed over to the police for further action.
