Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ministers Discuss Development Proposals for Merged Districts

Peshawar, In a significant meeting chaired by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Amalgamation, Industries, Crafts and Technical Education, Dr. Amir Abdullah, various departments discussed proposals for funding allocation under the Accelerated Implementation Program for multiple sectors in the merged districts.

According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the meeting involved departments like higher education, rehabilitation and resettlement, social welfare, industry, energy, health, population welfare, housing, tourism, minerals, law and justice, information, minority affairs, and multi-disciplinary development sectors. The focus was on allocating funds for priority projects through a special development package, with proposals set for consideration until next February.

The meeting saw the participation of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Caretaker Minister for Social Welfare, Rehabilitation and Prisons Justice retired Irshad Qaiser, Advisor to the Caretaker Chief Minister for Minerals Development and Planning and Energy Dr. Sarfraz Ali Shah, Special Secretary Tree Department of Interior and Tribal Affairs Muhammad Zubair, and DGSDU Department of Development and Planning Adil Saeed Safi, along with other relevant officials.

A detailed presentation highlighted the significance of priority projects and the proposed allocation of funds. One of the key directions issued was to establish a center in every tehsil, ensuring adequate funding for the ongoing rehabilitation project for drug addicts. The Minister directed to expedite the compensation payment process under the economic rehabilitation plan for affected businesses in North Waziristan.

Additionally, the proposal for establishing a Rescue 1122 academy in Shah Kis Khyber was discussed, with instructions to clarify land details with development project authorities. The higher education department was urged to allocate funds for the introduction of BS programs in suitable colleges, especially in women’s colleges in adjoining districts. Moreover, the introduction of three more subjects, including computer science, in the women’s college of Bajaur Navgai, was also directed.

This meeting marks a crucial step in the development and rehabilitation efforts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s merged districts, focusing on a broad range of sectors and addressing specific regional needs.
