Peshawar, The Caretaker Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Justice (R) Syed Arshad Hussain Shah, has initiated a significant program to provide technical and vocational training, along with employment opportunities, to the youth in the region. This program, part of the Khushal Khyber Pakhtunkhwa initiative, aims to align with the requirements of the modern market.
According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the program’s launch was marked by a ceremony held on Tuesday at the Chief Minister House in Peshawar. The event was attended by Caretaker Chief Minister Syed Arshad Hussain Shah, caretaker cabinet members, Chairman of the Higher Education Commission Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, administrative secretaries, and representatives from partner institutions. A significant number of journalists and students also participated.
During the ceremony, seven Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed between various departments and institutions. These collaborations aim to provide crash courses in information technology, nursing, paramedics, and other fields to over one lakh youth in the initial phase. Notable MoUs include agreements between the Institute of Management Sciences Peshawar and the Department of Youth Affairs, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa IT Board, the Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority, and the Small Industries Development Board.
Chief Minister Shah, addressing the gathering, spoke about the long-standing issue of unemployment in the country and the need for initiatives such as this to aid the youth. Despite the limited term of the caretaker government, he emphasized the commitment to supporting the Election Commission for transparent general elections and utilizing the period for the welfare of the people.
This program is a step towards addressing youth unemployment in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by equipping them with relevant skills and employment opportunities in various sectors.
