Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Launches Second Phase of Five-Day Anti-Polio Campaign

Peshawar, The second phase of a critical five-day anti-polio vaccination campaign is set to commence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa tomorrow, targeting over 7.1 million children under the age of five. This initiative underscores the region’s ongoing efforts to eradicate the poliovirus and safeguard children’s health.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, this extensive campaign not only aims to administer anti-polio vaccine drops but also includes the provision of a supplementary dose of Vitamin A to boost the immune systems of the young recipients. The inclusion of Vitamin A supplementation is a strategic move to enhance overall child health and resilience against other diseases.

The campaign is part of a broader national and global effort to eliminate polio, a debilitating and potentially fatal infectious disease. Despite significant progress in recent years, Pakistan remains one of the few countries where polio is still endemic, making these vaccination campaigns crucial for the complete eradication of the virus.

The success of the anti-polio drive in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is vital not only for the health of the children in the province but also for the global fight against polio. The government, along with local and international health organizations, continues to work tirelessly to overcome challenges and achieve a polio-free status for Pakistan.
