Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy Hosts Workshop on Gender-Sensitive Recruitment for Court Staff

Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy (KPJA), in partnership with the non-governmental organization Rozan, conducted a one-day orientation session aimed at fostering gender-responsive and sensitive recruitment practices within the judiciary. Held on July 13, 2024, the session saw the participation of 25 court staff members from districts including Peshawar, Swat, Kohat, and Khyber.

According to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy – Peshawar, the workshop was designed to raise awareness about the importance of gender sensitivity in the recruitment process. The event featured discussions on existing policies and guidelines that support gender-sensitive recruitment, with the goal of creating a more conducive environment for female applicants and promoting gender diversity within the judiciary.

The session included presentations and interactive discussions led by notable speakers such as Mr. Babar Bashir, Managing Director of Rozan, who spoke on gender-based violence, gender parity, and the critical role of gender responsiveness. Mr. Asad Hameed Bangash, a District & Sessions Judge, conducted a practical session on best practices for gender-sensitive recruitment in the judiciary.

Mr. Jehanzeb Shinwari, Director General of KPJA, welcomed the participants during the inaugural ceremony, while Mr. Zia ur Rehman, Dean Faculty of KPJA, moderated a discourse on the challenges faced in implementing gender-responsive recruitment strategies.

The workshop concluded with a group exercise where participants worked on planning gender-responsive activities, followed by a certificate distribution ceremony led by the Director General of KPJA.
