Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy Enhances Paralegal Professionalism Through Training

Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy hosted a specialized training session on September 5, 2024, aimed at boosting the capabilities of paralegals, including Oath Commissioners and Notary Public, from District Charsadda, Peshawar, and Mardan. The one-day event was part of ongoing justice sector reforms focusing on the capacity uplift of paralegals.

According to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy – Peshawar, the training was designed to reaffirm public faith in the justice system and to enhance ethical practices among paralegals. It aimed to update the legal knowledge of participants, help them understand relevant laws, rules, and procedures, and refine their professional skills for effective and efficient service delivery.

Dr. Qazi Attaullah, Senior Director (R and P) at the Academy, delivered a comprehensive lecture on Professional Ethics and Conduct, which underscored the importance of integrity and responsibility in the legal profession. Following him, Mr. Wajid Ali, Director of Instructions, addressed the participants on Substantive and Procedural Laws, focusing on common irregularities, challenges, and the practical application of relevant laws.

The training concluded with a session led by Ms. Faryal Zia Mufti, another Director of Instructions, who discussed the Maintenance of Record, highlighting the critical role accurate record-keeping plays in the legal process.

The event was presided over by Mr. Jehanzeb Shinwari, Director General of the KPJA, who also participated in the inaugural and concluding ceremonies. The ceremonies were attended by all directors and faculty members of the academy. At the conclusion of the training, certificates were distributed among the participants, marking their successful upskilling in various crucial aspects of their roles as paralegals.
