Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Higher Education Minister Calls for Quality Assurance in Education

Peshawar, In a decisive move to elevate educational standards, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Minister for Higher Education, Meena Khan Afridi, has issued directives to the Higher Education Regulatory Authority for enforcing quality education and penalizing subpar institutions. This stance was taken during a meeting held in the education department’s committee room, underlining the government’s commitment to educational excellence.

According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the meeting, which featured discussions with key figures like the Secretary of the authority Sajid Inam and Chairman Sharif Hussain, focused on the Authority’s progress and the enforcement of stringent measures against inadequate educational practices. Afridi’s mandate encompasses bolstering meritocracy and transparency across the province’s educational landscape.

The briefing disclosed to Minister Afridi highlighted the registration of 344 private educational institutions with the Authority, spanning various educational fields. The inventory includes universities, medical and dental colleges, and an array of professional institutes, reflecting the sector’s diversity and scale. Additionally, the meeting covered the Authority’s outreach and capacity-building initiatives, such as seminars, faculty and youth training in diverse competencies, and technical scholarships, which are part of broader efforts to foster an environment conducive to quality education.

The discussion also touched upon the implementation of reforms and the contemplation of new proposals to reinforce the regulatory framework, signaling a proactive approach to upholding educational standards in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
