Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Authority Cracks Down on Adulteration

Peshawar, In a major crackdown against food adulteration, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority seized hundreds of liters of substandard and fake beverages in Swabi, Nowshera, Malakand, and Mardan. The operations also led to heavy fines being imposed on violators, underscoring the provincial government’s commitment to ensuring the supply of unadulterated food items.

According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the recent operations are part of an ongoing effort to eradicate the adulteration mafia from the province. The Swabi Food Safety Team intercepted a vehicle on Jhangira road, finding 800 liters of fake drinks. Similarly, the Nowshera team seized 1200 liters from another vehicle. In Malakand, authorities destroyed 200 liters of substandard milk and confiscated 80 kg of prohibited and expired items during raids in Sakhakot Bazar.

The Director General of Food Authority, Wasif Saeed, commended the food safety teams for their diligence and assured that the crackdown would continue until all adulteration is eliminated. The Secretary of Food Department, Zarif Al-Maani, called on citizens to report any suspicious activities related to food adulteration.

Provincial Minister of Food, Zahir Shah Toro, praised the ongoing efforts and stressed the importance of routine inspections across all levels of the food supply chain, from industry to distributors and wholesalers. He reiterated that providing safe and quality food to the citizens remains a top priority for the provincial government.
