Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Focuses on Skill Development in Higher Education

Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Minister for Higher Education, Meena Khan Afridi, has emphasized the importance of integrating skill development into the educational curriculum to equip students with the necessary capabilities to navigate the job market successfully. The Minister highlighted the urgency of introducing market-oriented subjects to alleviate unemployment and prepare students for various professional sectors.

According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, during a meeting focused on higher education, Afridi, alongside Chief Education Secretary Arshad Khan and other educational officials, discussed the initiatives aimed at enhancing skill-based learning in the province. The Pak Austria Fachhochschule, a local institute offering specialized technical education, was cited as an example of this educational strategy, noting its role in producing skilled graduates ready for industry demands.

The meeting reviewed the institute’s enrollment rates, international student participation, and the opportunity for students to gain practical experience through industrial training integrated into their academic programs. This hands-on approach is seen as crucial in linking education with employment opportunities, ensuring students can transition smoothly into the workforce.

The provincial education leadership praised the efforts of educational institutions like the Pak Austria Fachhochschule in adapting to the needs of modern industries and underscored the necessity of expanding market-oriented educational programs across the region.
