Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cracks Down on Corruption in Wheat Procurement

Peshawar, In an aggressive move to ensure transparency and fairness in wheat procurement, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has initiated action against two officers on charges of corruption. This step aligns with the directives from Chief Minister and Food Minister Zahir Shah Toro, who has expressed a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption in the system.

According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the actions against the officers were prompted by monitoring reports and public complaints, leading to immediate legal proceedings and suspensions. Minister Toro reiterated the government’s commitment to a corruption-free procurement process, citing the installation of CCTV cameras and the formation of secret monitoring committees as measures to enhance oversight. He also called for public and media cooperation in identifying corrupt practices, underscoring the government’s intent to support local farmers and maintain integrity in public dealings.
