Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Convenes Meeting to Enhance Transparency and Accountability in Governance

Karachi, A high-level meeting aimed at boosting transparency and accountability in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s public administration was held at the Civil Secretariat in Peshawar, bringing together top officials from various governmental departments.

According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the meeting was attended by notable figures including the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Lieutenant General (Retd) Nazir Ahmed Butt, Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry, IG Police Akhtar Hayat Khan, and DG NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Waqar Ahmed Chauhan, along with administrative secretaries and other relevant officials. The central focus was on enhancing coordinated efforts between NAB and provincial departments to eliminate corruption and ensure integrity within the governmental machinery.

The Chairman of NAB emphasized the crucial role of bureaucracy in national development and the importance of fulfilling their responsibilities with integrity and transparency, aligning with public aspirations. He highlighted the commitment to addressing malicious and baseless complaints and the need to avoid media trials. Furthermore, he suggested that officers should conduct open courtrooms to address public issues directly. Emphasizing economic growth, he underlined the need to create a favorable environment for businesses, contributing to the country’s economic strength.

Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry, remarked on the significance of the meeting in fostering good governance, accountability, and creating a transparent administrative framework in the province. He noted that such meetings boost officer morale and aid in performing their duties effectively.

Participants discussed various issues and shared their views on eliminating corruption and establishing a transparent system. A collective determination to uphold the highest standards of integrity and to combat corruption was expressed.

In a notable conclusion to the meeting, Chairman NAB Lt Gen (Retd) Nazir Ahmad Butt presented a recovery check of Rs 904.34 million to the Chief Secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, symbolizing the tangible outcomes of their efforts against corruption.
