Peshawar, In the aftermath of a devastating fire in Peshawar Sadar, Chief Secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry, visited the impacted commercial plaza to meet with affected shopkeepers and businessmen. The visit, which included Peshawar Commissioner Muhammad Zubair and Deputy Commissioner Afaq Wazir, was an opportunity for the Chief Secretary to express his deep sorrow over the incident and to assess the damage firsthand.
According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the fire, which resulted in extensive damage to numerous shops and stalls, fortunately did not result in any loss of life. Chaudhry, while addressing the media during his visit, stated that the incident was a tragic one, but expressed relief that no fatalities occurred. He acknowledged the significant losses suffered by the traders and shopkeepers and extended his sympathies to them.
During his visit, the Chief Secretary also noted that the details of the damages were being compiled and that a report on the incident was pending. He expressed satisfaction that the nearby buildings were spared from the fire and did not sustain any damage. Furthermore, Chaudhry mentioned that he had previously issued instructions regarding fire safety and prevention, underscoring the administration’s commitment to ensuring the safety of such commercial areas.
