Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Caretaker Chief Minister Hosts Christmas Ceremony, Emphasizes Minority Rights and Development Programs

Karachi, The Chief Minister House in Peshawar was the venue for a significant Christmas cake cutting ceremony on December 25th, symbolizing a growing bond between the caretaker government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Christian community. Led by caretaker Chief Minister Justice Retired Syed Arshad Hussain Shah and attended by Bishop Humphrey Sarfraz Peter, the event highlighted the administration’s dedication to the welfare and rights of minorities.

According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the ceremony was an occasion to celebrate and recognize the contributions of the Christian community to the country, particularly in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region. Justice Shah reiterated the government’s commitment to addressing the issues faced by minorities, ensuring their welfare and protection remain a top priority.

The event also served as a platform for announcing an upcoming employment initiative for the youth of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This program, focusing on modern and market-relevant courses, aims to prepare over five lakh young people for respectable employment opportunities both in Pakistan and overseas. Justice Shah assured that youth from minority communities would be fully included in this initiative.

Addressing specific concerns of the Christian community, the Chief Minister directed immediate resolution of water scarcity at a Peshawar church, reflecting the government’s proactive approach to minority issues. This direction is part of a broader commitment to enhance the living conditions and security in minority communities’ residential areas.

The members of the Christian delegation expressed deep gratitude for the Chief Minister’s hospitality and the provincial government’s swift action in aiding the victims of the Jaranwala tragedy. They also conveyed congratulations to Justice Shah on his appointment as the Caretaker Chief Minister, offering their best wishes for his tenure.

The ceremony, attended by Secretary Religious and Minority Affairs Dr. Asad and other key officials, marked a step forward in the government’s inclusive policy and its efforts to promote unity and equality among the diverse communities of the region.
