Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Announces Major Health Investments and Initiatives

Peshawar, In a significant push to enhance healthcare services in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Health Minister Syed Qasim Ali Shah announced a 232 billion rupee investment in health sector development projects during a press conference today. This funding will support both ongoing and new health schemes aimed at substantially improving medical facilities and services across the province.

According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the allocated funds will focus on 89 ongoing schemes and initiate 32 new projects. Among the notable initiatives, the introduction of an air ambulance service is planned to improve access to medical care in remote hilly areas, and a Gamma Knife Ray Center will be established to offer specialized treatment for brain tumors.

Addressing the media, Minister Shah also spoke on several innovative health measures, including the expansion of ICU beds, the introduction of robotic surgeries, and the development of motorbike response units. These motorbike units are part of broader efforts to establish Hayatabad as a health city, enhancing emergency medical responses in rural areas.

The press conference also touched on the implementation of executive health check-ups in all hospitals, a program set to be officially inaugurated by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur. Additionally, Minister Shah addressed the recent tragic incident at Nowshera Hospital involving the accidental death of a student named Musa, describing it as “very regrettable” and confirming the suspension of individuals involved in a related video scandal.

These comprehensive health initiatives underscore the provincial government’s commitment to improving healthcare accessibility and quality for all residents of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as the region continues to face challenges from a high patient burden, particularly in hospitals in Peshawar.
