Peshawar, In a significant move to enhance primary education, Faisal Khan Turki, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, announced that only female teachers will be appointed in new primary schools across the province. This policy is aimed at leveraging what the Minister perceives as the unique capabilities of female teachers to nurture and educate young children with compassion.
According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Minister Turki unveiled the new staffing policy during a review meeting with senior education officials, including Special Secretary Education Isfandiar Khattak and other key department heads. The decision aligns with efforts to address the teacher shortage and improve the quality of education.
Further reforms discussed at the meeting include the recalibration of IT teachers to ensure they are correctly positioned to enhance IT education and the functionality of IT labs in schools. The meeting also covered the progress of ongoing projects such as the Human Capital Investment Project and the ASPIRE project, which focus on the solarization of schools, construction of Early Childhood Care (ECC) rooms, and professional development for educators.
Minister Turki also detailed plans to introduce additional facilities in schools, such as IT labs, play areas, and rooms for early childhood education, with specific timelines for implementation. He emphasized the government’s commitment to education by announcing incentives for outstanding teachers and addressing salary issues for second shift school teachers.
