Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Aims to Boost Industrial Development and Investor Engagement

Peshawar, In a strategic push to stimulate economic growth, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, under Special Assistant for Industry, Crafts, and Technical Education Abdul Karim Tordhir, reviewed progress and outlined future directions for the region’s economic zones. The session marked the first introductory meeting for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development and Management Company, held in Peshawar, emphasizing enhanced support and facilities for investors.

According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the meeting convened at the company’s Hayatabad headquarters, where Special Assistant Tordhir received comprehensive updates on the development status and operational achievements of the province’s economic zones. The briefing highlighted that ten Economic Zones and two Special Economic Zones are already operational, with plans for additional zones underway.

Key developments include the completion of Ghazi Economic Zone, readiness of Mansehra Economic Zone, and infrastructural advancements in Hattar Economic Zone, such as residential projects and reliable electricity supply. Notably, the Special Economic Zone Rishkai, under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), has seen significant allotment progress, reinforcing its strategic importance.

The meeting also touched on improvements in the Export Promotion Zone Risalpur, home to a major matchbox manufacturing plant, and the imminent construction initiatives in Marble City Bonair and Chitral Economic Zone. With ongoing activations and constructions in Mohmand Economic Zone, the focus extends to online facilitation for investors, addressing utility issues, and exploring sustainable energy solutions, particularly for Chitral Economic Zone.

Special Assistant Tordhir directed company managers to proactively engage with investors, highlighting the potential of utilizing local hydro power resources and innovating business models for areas like Kirksalt and Gypsum City. These directives aim to catalyze economic activities and revenue generation, reflecting the provincial government’s commitment to industrial expansion and investor facilitation.
