Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Advances Construction of Swat Motorway Phase II to Boost Transportation and Economic Growth

Peshawar, Shakeel Ahmed, the Minister of Communications and Construction of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, announced ongoing efforts to enhance regional transportation infrastructure, highlighting the construction of the Swat Motorway Phase II as a crucial development to facilitate transportation, and stimulate trade and tourism in the region.

According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the statement was made during a meeting in Peshawar that addressed the progress of the Swat Motorway Phase II project. The meeting included key figures such as the Provincial Minister for Forests and Environment Fazal Hakeem Khan, Special Assistant to Chief Minister for Housing Dr. Amjad Ali, and representatives from both national and provincial assemblies of Swat.

The Swat Motorway Phase II, budgeted at 36.50 billion rupees, will extend approximately 80 kilometers and include the construction of 9 bridges and 7 interchanges. An additional 21.5 billion rupees are allocated for land acquisition. This project follows the successful completion of Phase I and aims to resolve any local concerns by refining the project’s design to meet public needs and expectations more effectively.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held about the current design and the strategic importance of making the motorway align with public expectations. Minister Ahmed reiterated the provincial government’s commitment to addressing the challenges faced by local communities during the construction process and ensuring that the project serves the welfare of the people. Recommendations from these discussions are expected to be presented in the next meeting concerning the Swat Motorway Phase II.
