Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Irrigation Minister Aqibullah Khan has announced the completion of 12 dams in the merged districts of the province, with another 11 dams currently under construction. During a surprise visit to the office of the Director General of Small Dams, Khan emphasized the need for computerization of records and addressed various administrative and operational issues.
According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Khan’s visit led to a thorough review of the Small Dam office’s departments, highlighting the necessity of maintaining cleanliness and a professional environment. He stressed the importance of safeguarding the records of small dams through digital means to ensure their longevity and accessibility. Furthermore, the minister announced plans to reclaim irrigation department lands from encroachment, advocating for the use of GPS mapping systems to manage the department’s properties effectively.
The ongoing dam projects are part of a broader initiative to provide consistent clean drinking water and improve irrigation services, meeting the critical needs of the region’s populace.
