Khuzdar: In a stringent push for greater administrative responsibility, Deputy Commissioner Yasir Iqbal Dashti conducted unexpected visits to various local government departments including Public Health Engineering (PHE), Irrigation, Health, and Agriculture. The visits highlighted issues of staff absenteeism and departmental negligence, prompting stern warnings and the announcement of disciplinary measures, including salary deductions.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, Dashti’s visit revealed a lack of presence among officers and staff, which he strongly condemned. Emphasizing the critical nature of their services to the community, he mandated that department heads and their teams not only ensure regular attendance but also improve service delivery to the public, minimizing the need for residents to resort to private options for basic services.
In his discussions at the PHE department, Dashti underscored the essential service of providing clean drinking water and demanded that all water supply schemes be regularly reviewed and new projects completed promptly to avoid public complaints. Similarly, at the Agriculture Department, he highlighted the importance of supporting the local farming community through training and subsidies, given the sector’s significance to Khuzdar’s economy.
The visit to the Health Department was equally critical, with Dashti reminding staff of their duty to deliver compassionate and effective health services to prevent locals from seeking expensive treatments at private facilities. This initiative is part of a broader effort to ensure that public departments fulfill their roles effectively and responsibly.
